W|N looks forward to its summer associate program each year and the opportunity to work one on one with talented and capable law students seeking careers in intellectual property. Our summer associate program typically begins in late April and runs through August. During that time, our summer associates have the opportunity to experience prosecution and litigation practice alongside some of the best attorneys in the country. We also strive to provide our summer associates with opportunities to assist in out-of-town trials and/or attend examiner interviews at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. For those summer associates who prefer to do so, we also accomodate split-summer clerkships. Interested applicants may submit a cover letter, resume, and undergraduate and law school transcripts to the firm’s Recruiting Coordinator, preferably by email.

Although our principal focus in the summer associate program is to provide a meaningful work experience, we also sponsor a number of activities that allow our summer associates to get to know one another and the members of the firm in a more relaxed, social setting. These activities often include dinner parties hosted by shareholders, a swimming party, theatre and concert events, sporting events, hot air ballooning, water skiing, golfing, and trap shooting.

Travel Stipend: Because many of our summer associates are attending law schools outside of Utah, W|N offers a travel stipend to assist in covering costs associated with traveling to Salt Lake City for summer clerkships. The amount of the stipend varies, depending on where the summer associate is attending law school.
