W|N Given Prestigious “Band 1” Ranking by Chambers USA
W|N has received a Band 1 ranking – the highest possible – in the intellectual property category for Utah by the 2008 Chambers USA guide, a directory of the most effective law firms and attorneys in the nation.
In addition, W|N shareholders Rick Nydegger (ranked 1), Larry Laycock (ranked 1), John Stringham (ranked 2), C.J. Veverka (ranked 2) and Eric L. Maschoff (ranked 3) were recognized among the top individual Utah attorneys in the intellectual property category, a prestigious honor for the firm.
Chambers USA is one of a series of guides published worldwide by Chambers and Partners, which has been ranking law firms and attorneys since 1990. Chambers assembles its rankings by interviewing a vast range of lawyers and their clients to solicit viewpoints on both firms and attorneys. Rankings are assessed based on technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment and other qualities valued by clients.
Law firms and individual attorneys are ranked by Chambers USA from 1-6, with 1 being the highest possible ranking. Based solely on the findings of Chambers' research team, attorney rankings are independent and objective. Chambers publishes similar guides in Europe, Asia and the United Kingdom, as well as a global directory.
"Chambers is widely respected within the legal profession because of the diligence they put into researching their rankings," said Rick Nydegger, president and managing director of W|N, which ranks among the five largest law firms in Salt Lake City. "We are truly honored to be recognized in this way by such a distinguished organization."
W|N has consistently earned recognition as one of the top intellectual property firms in the nation. The firm represents a wide array of clients in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition, and related litigation and licensing matters.
With some 80 attorneys, W|N specializes in practice areas including computer systems, software, e-commerce and information technology; electronics and electrical engineering; pharmaceutical, neutraceutical, chemical, biotechnology, and medical and life science technologies; physics and optics; mechanics and mechanical engineering; alternative energy; agricultural sciences; IP licensing; and complex IP litigation, interpartes conflicts and mediation and arbitration.
